This pattern was one of the first that inspired me to open up this little shop. It’s a simple, relaxing knit with just enough going on to challenge a beginner knitter into keeping going. It knits up in just a few hours, so it’s perfect for a last minute gift or bulk gift knitting!

Materials:

Yarn:

Gauge:

  • 9 sts and 28 rounds/ 4″ in stockinette stitchusing larger needles

Needles:

  • US # 13 / 9mm 24″ Circular Knitting Needles like Knitter’sPride Dreamz
  • US # 15 / 10 mm24″ Circular Knitting Needles

Notions:

  • Stitch Markers
  • Darning Needle
  • Embroidery Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • MC – Main Color
  • CC – ContrastingColor
  • K – Knit
  • P – Purl
  • Kfb – Knit in theFront and Back
  • St(s) – Stitch(es)

Directions:

Using MC cast on 60 stitches with smaller needles.

Place marker and join for working in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches

Work Ribbed Edge:

Round 1: K1, P1, until end of round.

Repeat 3 times until 4 rounds have been completed. Switch to larger needles.

Setup Rounds:

Kfb, K all remaining sts

Optional: K additional round

Fair Isle:

Round 1: K1 with CC, K1 with MC, repeat to end of round

Round 2: K1 with MC, K1 with CC, repeat to end of round

Rows3-6: Repeat rows 1 and 2 an additional 2 times until you have completed six rows of the fair isle

CC Stockinette:

K all rows with CC for 6 rows.

Fair Isle:

Round 1: K1 with CC, K1 with MC, repeat to end of round

Round 2: K1 with MC, K1 with CC, repeat to end of round

Rows3-6: Repeat rows 1 and 2 an additional 2 times until you have completed six rows of the fair isle. On final repeat switch to smaller needles.

Decrease round:

K2tog, K all remaining sts

Ribbed Edge:

K2tog, K all remaining stitches in MC. You will have 60 stitches once this row is done.

K1, P1 until the end of round, repeat two more times.

Bind off and weave in ends.
