Daylight Savings Time has kicked my butt this year. I don’t know why it did, but that’s just a fact and there’s nothing I can do about it…except nap and drink more coffee. There is a light at the end of the tunnel that is this week, and that’s Pi Day! That’s right, March 14th aka Pi Day is a real thing in case you didn’t know and it’s a wonderful thing.

The problem is, somehow this day always seems to sneak up on me and before I know it Pi Day has passed and I’m left woefully unprepared without a slice of pie to be had. Not this year though! This year I’ve got recipes that are sure to make your Pi Day better than it’s ever been. These are some of my favorite recipes from this blog, but since I like pie I’ve included other recipes (one of which my sister is entering a baking competition today)!

For starters, you’ll want to use my All Butter Pie Dough, which is my go-to pie dough recipe. It’s super straight forward and as long as you keep your butter cold it’s almost impossible to mess up!

If you want to follow a recipe there’s my Classic Apple Pie or my Triple Berry Pie recipes that are always a huge crowd pleaser.

If you’re not feeling fruit this Chocolate Caramel Tart actually helped to win/tie a baking competition at work and is almost like the best version of a twix bar.

These are some of my favorite pie recipes. They’re my back pocket recipes that I can pull out whenever I need them and never disappoint. If you’re looking for some more non-traditional pie options here are some below:

  1. Winter Vegetable Crostada from the Edible Boston Blog is being entered into a Pi Day competition as we speak. It’s not your traditional sweet pie, but for someone like me this pie would hit all the right notes…especially since there’s almost an entire block of cheese in there
  2. Bourbon Derby Pie with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream from a Spicy Perspective is probably the late night snack of my husband’s dreams. It’s gooey, creamy, salty, and holy moly does it sound like bourbon would be a great addition to that pie!
  3. Finally, the Breakfast Slab Pie from Smitten Kitchen caught the attention of my lazy morning hating side. I’m not really an egg person per-se *cue the gasps* but this looks like it’s the stuff my breakfast dreams are made of. I’d probably add some bacon though…

Now, before I ramble too long about pie and all of its virtues, do yourself a favor and go make some pie.
